Introduction: Laurel & Ivy Designs offers planning and design services for weddings and events. Laurel & Ivy is based in Greensboro, and serves all of North Carolina. We create weddings and events that are beautiful, unique, and tailored to each client's vision. We take pride in our work and in producing a cohesive event that reflects the style of the client. Designing events is one of our favorite planning tasks. Taking a client's vision and turning it into a reality and something so special for them is the best feeling! We love seeing the smiles and surprised faces of the guests and hosts. Knowing that our work has made someone happy is priceless.

We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding planner than Emily. She made our special day even more memorable by paying attention to details that are easy to miss. She is a pleasure to work with and managed all aspects of our wedding planning from start to finish. She is accessible for help at all times and replied to our questions/concerned in a timely manner with clear solutions. Her attention to details is outstanding, which made wedding planning effortless for us. I would highly recommend her for any social event planning and especially for weddings. I believe it is difficult to find someone as tenacious about their work as Emily is about planning and making your special event memorable for you.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    I like to get together with new clients and have a candid conversation to get to know more about them and the event. This discussion can occur over the phone or in-person. Depending on the type of event, I will send the client a questionnaire to find out more about the specifics of the event. For partial and full service weddings, I provide the client with a mock budget containing estimates. This budget can be used by the client throughout the planning process to keep track of expenses and the overall budget.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

    After planning my own wedding, I found that I really enjoyed the process and had a passion for planning. I began helping friends and coworkers plan their weddings, and after hearing "you should do this as your job" for the umpteenth time, I decided to follow my passion. From my time in public accounting, I have also planned several corporate and charity events, such as holiday parties and silent auctions.
