Introduction: Blackwell’s School of Music and Film is focused on providing developmental guidance and transferable life skills to our students through performing and cultural arts. Our goal is not only for the students to develop a love for the arts, but also to develop an active sense of purpose. Students of Blackwell’s School of Music and Film acquire and strengthen valuable life skills such as communication, social etiquette, professionalism, leadership, teamwork and self-confidence. The skills our students learn are immediately transferable in social, academic and professional arenas. People seldom have the opportunity to share their concerns, frustrations or aspirations. Blackwell’s School of Music and Film presents a framework where individuals control what they wish to say in a constructive and meaningful manner. Our student-driven model is powerful and unique, and it stems from the belief that every person should be able to express himself/herself in “his/her own voice.”
