Justin has the best of intentions when taking on a project, but our remodel must have been just too much for him and his subs to handle. From the very beginning, he was behind the 8-ball. The permit was late due to his electrical and plumbing choices failing to send in their information, inspections were failed on several occasions because he was uninformed on the municipality's codes (which caused at least a 3 week delay in completion of the job) and when the final stretch was in sight he chose not to come back to oversee the work unless we gave him additional funds. Keeping in mind that the last withheld payment amount was not due until the project was FULLY COMPLETE. In the end, those funds were used to pay a new plumber and new electrician to finish the job right (after failing the final inspections.) While Justin seems like a really nice guy who just 'wants to do the right thing' he is not a business person at all - we heard that he failed to pay some of his subs - and he is not capable of managing a larger project than a single bathroom or kitchen. If we had the hindsight needed, we would have hired our own plumbing and electrical trades and had Justin to do only the construction / framing / drywall items required, not manage the other elements as part of the major remodel we did. Had he done the work needed without trying to split his focus to also manage the process, we are confident his work would have been more precise and met our expectations set from past reviews. The actual work completed is OK, but not great, and is not anywhere near perfect. The outlets in the kitchen are all at different heights, which is very obvious after tiling the back splash. The lighting cans are not flush with the ceiling, the grout and tile placement in the bathrooms is sloppy and the door openings were framed wrong in 2 instances – so the casings were installed very messy with the need for additional trim pieces to camouflage the wood showing after placement. There is missing caulk in some places, many outlets are not properly dry-walled around, so there are openings behind the plate around the mud rings. The biggest disappointment is that our living room ‘bounces’ after all the remodeling took place. Also in hindsight, another layer of plywood should have been laid down to strengthen the open concept floor plan that was created thru this renovation. Justin, with his self-proclaimed years of experience, should have recommended and done that. In the end, if a letter grade were being given by a teacher, we would say that a C- would be appropriate. It is not a fail, but there was a lot of room to meet and exceed expectations and do the job at the level it should have been.

Justin did a great job on our basement home theater remodel. I told him I needed it done by a certain date and he delivered. He was fair on price and his workmanship was excellent. He strives to please the homeowner. I would definitely hire him again!
