- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I approach new clients as if I was shooting an advertising or editorial assignment. Ask for or help put together a mood board (pdf) to get a clear idea of the client's vision for their photo. To get and idea for the art direction whether it is fine art, lifestyle, portraiture, and or fashion. Discussions about wardrobe, hair and make up, location options, best time of day for optimal light, strobe lighting, props, digital or film, color or black and white.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
After graduating from JMU with a BBA I worked in Atlanta for two years shooting still life for catalogues. Moved to Miami to work in the fashion world and began my assisting career. Continued onto New York and assisted top fashion, lifestyle, advertising photographers from around the world. Celebrities with Platon, Ad work with National Geographic legend Steven McCurry, Sports Ads with Gary Land. I have a long list of legendary photographers that I had the pleasure to learn from and collaborate with.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started taking pictures for my high school year book and never stopped. Photography has opened the doors to adventure and field trips into different worlds. Thirty years have passed and I still love what I do.
