- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First Zoom meeting is free so I can learn about what the student wants to learn, what their goals are. I do not use a "cookie cutter" approach to teaching. Every person is different so their lesson plans should reflect that. There are of course some basics that everyone needs to learn regarding technique and music theory, but styles and approaches differ from student to student. Parents: If this is for your child then you ultimately have the say in what they learn. However, I would advise that you talk with your child about music they like. It could be the theme song to their favorite TV show or Video Game. It could be the commercial jingle to that toy they really like. For the younger kids I like to use the Alfred Basic Piano Library series as a basis for learning the necessities, with the addition of songs they like for their own enjoyment.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
