FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
If you have a stack of repairs and wish to use per hour pricing, it is $10. per hour plus any supplies (zippers, patches, elastic, etc.). If you simply need a pair of pants hemmed, prices start at $7.50 per pair. Each item/customer can receive an individual quote for requested work done.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For any new customer, I prefer to verify exactly what they want to acheive with the item, as well as when they need the item (is it a rush job, etc.). If it is a fitting issue, they can try the garment on and together we will decide what it needs. If they have questions about my past work, I can point them to prior customers, as well as provide pictures.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I grew up playing around my mom's sewing machine as she sewed for the 7 of us kids. By the time I was in 8th grade, I was making my own clothing. Over the years I continued to sew for friends and family, making new garments and repairing or updating old ones. I have spent over 10 years working in sewing factories, sewing on many different kinds of machines, engineering garment constuction and training new hired people. Added to the basic sewing skills I learned at home, my years in factories taught me many "tricks" to use in construction and repair.
