- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A quick conversation on the phone is a great way to start the process. The next step is to schedule a $10 introductory lesson. At the introductory lesson I give a fun skills assessment to see which teaching approach, methods, and piano instruction books will help the student progress most quickly. For very young beginners, this is also a good opportunity to determine piano readiness.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have given private piano lessons for 17 years and worked as a classroom music teacher for 14 years, including early childhood music education and junior and high school choir. I am trained in the Orff-Schulwerk and Kodaly methods of music instruction. I am also a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), and California Association of Music Teachers.
