Introduction: My Mother is my Hula dancer. As far as I know, we are the only Mother/Son Hawaiian music duo. I am the musician/vocalist and my Mom is my hula dancer. She's 82 years old and still dancing hula. Because we wear matching Aloha wear when we perform, sometimes the guests think we're a husband/wife duo. They compliment me on how beautiful my "wife" dances the hula. Lol. She also dances the comic hula made popular by Hilo Hattie (Something you don't see anymore in Waikiki) My mother encouraged me to learn all the old time songs because sometimes when she asks the musicians to play a song she wants to dance hula to, they tell her, "We don't do that song." So my Mom encouraged me to learn all the old time songs she loves to dance. (Hanalei Moon, Waikiki, Love Song of Kalua, Beautiful Kaua'I, Tutu E, Cockeysville Mayor of Kaunakakai etc). The old time Hawaiian music, the comic hula always brings smiles to people's faces. I love it that I can make people happy because they're enjoying themselves!
