Lauren's English Lessons
About this pro
Excellent!Sep 7, 2016Verified
I took Lauren's private classes and can say that my english improved so much in those 5 months. She was always concerned about my needs and how to achieve my goals. Besides, she is always looking for extra activities where we can learn a little bit more about the american culture, history and way of life.Mar 3, 2016
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My typical pricing system is $35-45 per hour for private lessons, depending partly on location. The average price is $40 per hour.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I usually offer a free in-person meeting to discuss any questions we may have for each other. This also allows us to get to know each other and see if it will be a good teacher-student fit. And it also allows me to get an evaluation of the student's level and needs. Next, I make a plan for the student. This includes - what materials to use, what to do during class time, what to do with homework etc. Each student is different and has different needs. So I customize each lesson to fit what the student needs most. Then, we get started!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?My degree is in International Studies with a minor in Russian language. Before I started my own business teaching English as a Second Language, I taught English in Taiwan, I taught conversational English to international graduate students at A&M University, and I worked as a teacher/manager at a local Test Prep center that catered mostly to Korean students who recently moved to the United States and were preparing for college here. My extensive travels (I have visited over 40 countries) and my study of other languages (I have studied Spanish, Russian, and a tiny bit of Korean) have also given me a deeper understanding of culture and language that allows me to be a better and more effective teacher of English.
