- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For Board and Train we start with a meet and greet/evaluation , typically done in the dogs home. This is with the family members and pets. We discuss any concerns, issues, or questions the family might have. We will go over the pets daily routines, the desired outcome of training, and any special requests. At the end of there training we go back to your home and work with you for at lead an hour to go over training and how to maintain what your dog has learned. With private lessons we start on the first visit working with both the dog and there family to set them up for success . Then options and training are tailored to there specific needs , either in home, in public, at our facility. On private lessons they are geared toward teaching the owners how to train there dog , they do require participation of owners and there is homework between visits. But the ability to understand your dogs specific personality and how to work with them is priceless
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked with animals my entire life. A vet in Nacogdoches realized my potential and I started working with him consistently from the time I was 10 years old. My specialty was hard to deal with animals domestic , and exotic. From there I went on to become a certified dog/Animal trainer, certified animal behaviorist [certified human behaviorist], and began training dogs for service animals, therapy, bomb, and drug. I am also canine CPR certified . Emergency Management certified. Maintain high level security clearance. I have worked many years in, and with law enforcement K-9. Wrote , trained the Diamond dog program that went nationwide in multiple shelters that has reduced the kill rates, and increased the number of animals staying in there homes through matchmaking, training, human trainer , and is used to train and certify other trainers. Diamond dogs won grants through Purina, Government, and personal investors. I still to this day train animals for children and adults with disabilities. Work with shelters, train law, enforcement. I love what I do and tailor to what is needed for both our pets and families.
