Introduction: Because of my conservatory training and performance experience, I can teach you the basis of solid technique which will allow you to sing well, no matter the style, and avoid the vocal injuries which have become so common among popular singers. My training and stage experience in acting will afford you the opportunity to become a complete performer. I teach from Clear Lake and Cy-fair in Houston. I have 20 years experience teaching privately and at the university level. I've worked with classical opera singers, musical theatre, and pop singers. I can help you find the basis of healthy technique and adapt it to the stylistic needs of whatever you want to sing.

I am extremely happy that I found Dr. Zachary Bruton as my instructor. I am an actor and singer (Tenor) in the Bay Area. I was initially skeptical about virtual lessons, but with the right set-up you'll be fine. Invest in a good mic. After looking into so many instructors, I felt that Dr. Bruton will have the greatest impact on my career because of his expertise in the art form. And he did NOT disappoint. In a short period of time, he has improved the way I sing, and formed a new voice out of me that I did not know existed. It's a process that he teaches and like any process, it takes practice, time, and patience. I highly recommend him as your instructor, especially if you are a tenor. He is currently helping live out my professional goals, encourages me to be bold, and I am inspired to continue to grow as an artist with him.

Dr. Bruton has been fabulous. I'm excited about his approach to voice. It's totally different than what I was expecting. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
In our first lesson, I will vocalize the student to determine the range, voice type, and how well the student can hear pitch. From there we begin to design a program together, based on the student's needs, goals, and musical/stylistic preferences.

How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've been teaching since I was a TA at Rice University. Since then, I've taught at numerous colleges across the country. I've sung in recitals, in operas, musicals, performed in straight plays, and conducted masterclasses in singing and acting.
