FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge 90$ an hour ($70 for 45 mins) for lessons, but am willing to negotiate this rate based on the student’s or family’s need.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer free trial lessons for anyone seriously interested in starting cello lessons. During this lesson I will spend time getting to know the student to see if we might be a good match in terms of learning style. I will spend time evaluating the student's current skill level and areas to target for improvement, and discuss short- and long-term goals.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing the cello for 17 years, and have studied with some of the world's greatest musicians, including the late Orlando Cole, who taught at Curtis Institute of Music for over 50 years. I received my Master of Music Degree from Mannes College of Music in 2013, and am currently completing a Doctor of Musical Arts at New England Conservatory, studying with Yeesun Kim. My speciality is chamber music, having worked with the Brentano, Borromeo, Orion, Ying and Cavani Quartets over the past several years. Additionally, I have taught cello in public schools for the past two years, most recently as part of the Sistema program at East Somerville Public School. I teach elementary cello in both group and individual settings, working with beginner and intermediate students ages 10-12. My students advance quickly, with an emphasis on strong fundamentals and pushing new limits of technique and learning.
