Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: We specialize in authentic, offbeat, unorthodox, and downright weird. We're also super inclusive and affirming. I love helping people find solutions to unusual problems. A wedding package from a hotel is lovely-- it is!-- but it's not for everyone. And I love finding that perfect grey silk/velvet boots/glitter crown/silkscreened tie to go with the multiple-words-strung-together-'cause-that's-the-only-to-explain-it vibes.

Rebecca never seemed to remember any details we discussed about our wedding, which was an elopement with no guests. We told her multiple times there were no guests, yet she wrote a script for the wedding that spent several pages address non existent guests. This really rubbed us the wrong way. Then in response to asking if we can shift the time of our ceremony by a couple of hours, to which a simple "no" would have been fine, she sends an email making it sound like traveling to our ceremony (from Boston to Salem) was some massive chore. We decided we didn't want an officiant who was so forgetful on the details of our wedding and so self centered, so we wound up finding someone else the day before instead. Perhaps in the future, Ms. Macaw can extend the detail she puts into collecting payments into taking care of her clients.
Maven Macaw Events's reply
I'm sorry Colleen was unhappy with how things unfolded, and wish she had said something while we were still working together, so I could have made it right. 1. I sent my sample ceremony, which, yes, mentions guests, for us to edit together for a custom ceremony. The final text does not mention guests. 2. I also always double check important details-- like whether the elopement is still just the couple, or whether parents will be joining (which happens, often, during elopement planning). 3. I have young children. When we signed a contract for this job, a year ago, I planned my entire day around getting to and from Salem and making sure school pick-up and childcare was covered. I understand that for many, a two-hour shift is no big deal, however, that is not the case for me. 4. The response I received to that explanation was an email informing me my services were no longer required. Per our signed contract, I informed the couple I was still due payment, while also wishing them (and their new officiant!) a good wedding and a happy life together.

Although she was already booked for the date I requested, she let me know ASAP which I like and says she’s prompt and professional.
