Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: The Prepared Environment guides families to create the best home environment for their child through personal coaching, home design projects, and online resources. Our services provide expert one-on-one guidance and advice for common parenting issues like toileting, learning to read, communication, setting limits, toys, and understanding your child's development. Home design services are available locally in the D.C. metro area and help you create an intentional space for both your children and yourself. Together, we can decrease your stress at home while helping your children develop a strong sense of self, gain confidence in their abilities, and reach their potential. Working with parents of young children is our way of making the world a better place. Our children are the future, and it is our joy to help provide the very best environments for them.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Home projects are a full hands-on service that takes you from where you are to a beautiful prepared space for your children (and yourself!) I'll walk you through step by step, and take the time to help you sort, set-up, and shop for supplies. Most average sized rooms take between 8-12 hours for a total of $920 and around $250 in materials. Travel is billed at the federal mileage rate for distances more than 30 miles roundtrip. You can save 10% by purchasing a block of hours upfront at the time of your first visit. You can also choose to implement the plan yourself after the first visit and do all the work alone. If cost is truly an issue for you and your family, please let me know. I'll do what we can to work with you in your situation.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

First, we talk on the phone so I can get to know your family's needs. I'll ask you a few questions, and offer any resources I can. Then, we'll choose a day and time for the first visit at your home. On the first visit, we'll do a walk-through of your home to see what is working well, and determine any changes you'd like to make. We'll also talk about your children's needs at this age and I'll answer any questions you have. Then, I'll create a custom plan for preparing your ideal space for your family. I'll go over any recommended materials to get, how to lay them out, and general guidelines for organizing your space. Now you can take on the plan yourself, or schedule working visits to complete the project! Enjoy your new space and peace of mind!

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a BS in Early Childhood Education Pre-K to 3rd, a Masters in Education and AMI Montessori certification. I've worked in Montessori schools for almost 10 years in various roles. I've also spend time one-on one with families watching children ages three months to five years for current on-the-ground experience, and lead mindful parenting classes. I completed a RIE Foundations course in June of 2015.
