Introduction: I absolutely love teaching piano and working with students of all ages. It has been my profession since my piano teacher started me out student teaching with her when I was sixteen. Working with students age four to adult and seeing them learn and reach their musical goals is my passion. Teaching from my home studio in Edwardsville (Kansas City), KS 66111, I offer reasonable rates of $85 and $125 per month (30 min. and 45 min./week)

Janet is a wonderful musician. She will often times play the piano at the end of a recital. It is an extra treat. Janet is an awesome teacher. Both of our kids have taken from her. They started when they were 7 and took until they finished high school by choice. She is so patient and kind and will help her students meet their personal goals. If you are in need of a piano teacher, I highly recommend Janet.

My boys, now ages 11 and 7, have both taken piano lessons from Janet since they were each 5 years old. Our boys love Janet and we wouldn't take them anyplace else for lessons! She is great with communication, her lessons are easy for the boys to understand and her recitals are always so much fun! I would most definitely recommend JJ's Piano Studio.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Standard pricing is $85 per month for a weekly 30 minute lesson. Makeups are available for the occasional absentee.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Your first lesson will be about finding out your goals, your current expertise level and discussing what is the right curriculum for you. With children, the first lesson is all about getting to know each other, learn some fun things about the piano and get started on their musical journey!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My music theory training is from Kansas City Kansas Community College. On-going teaching principles workshops with authors of piano pedagogy such as Randall and Nancy Faber, James Bastien, Eugenie Rocherolle. Private lessons, ten years from Ruth Keltner and Mabel Hugg. Studio work experience with Springfield Music KC, Funky Munky Music, The Music Gallery and The Music Stand, 2013 back to 1995. I opened my studio to teach exclusively from my home location in 2014.
