What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Typically, based on the perquisites of the project I will charge a project fee. Additionally if maintenance is a part of the discussion I will charge an hourly rate of 35.00.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First is to establish the goals for the project, whether it is a logo or website. Logical timeframe for the project and then proceed with concepts and then the final work begins.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Though my initial education is related to interior design, the same principles of design apply to graphic and web design which I'm continually expanding my knowledge of.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
After receiving my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design in 1984, I then working with a visual merchandising firm for many years, I've transitioned to being a graphic and web designer as I've always had a love for everything tech.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Typically my customers are small businesses focusing in on the fashion and design areas for which I've done logo branding and small websites.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
My last project was for Jewelry Designer who needed both logo branding and a website. The process was completed in about three months from conception of the logo, design and printing of business cards, photography of the jewelry and price cards..to the final website launch.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The main advice would be to have your initial thoughts and resources in hand when proceeding with looking for the designer.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Ideally, the client has the resources in line before contacting the design firm. This makes for smooth design process.
