Rick has a strong classical guitar background in addition to his bass guitar experience. That combined with his years of teaching a wide range of age groups and ability levels gives me confidence that Rick will help me progress my skill and enjoyment in bass playing. After only two lessons I already have some concrete techniques to work on that will help me improve. We have also developed a short term plan to improve my confidence in playing up and down the neck.Jan 13, 2016Verified

Our son has been taking classical guitar lessons from Rick Pruitt for almost four years now. One of the things we most appreciate about Rick is the positive way in which he relates to his students. In both group and individual lessons, Rick really engages with the kids to encourage them in their love of the instrument. During the year, he provides multiple opportunities to perform at coffee shop recitals which are a wonderful and inviting way to both develop and improve performance skills. We would highly recommend Rick as a guitar instructor.Dec 1, 2015
I have taken both classical and blues guitar lessons from Rick for many moons. I like his style ... challenging but also laid back! If you are just starting to play, he is great with beginners! If you are looking to sharpen your existing skills, he's your man as well! You won't be disappointed!Nov 19, 2015
Rick is an excellent guitar teacher for young children through adults. He is patient, fun and kind. Rick has an intuitive way of teaching based on the needs of the student and allows each learner to proceed at their own pace and incorporating their own interests. He is immensely talented as a guitar player and teacher. My daughter, husband and I have been learning from Rick for the past 4 years and I cannot imagine working with anyone else!Nov 12, 2015

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?$30 per 1/2 hour lesson. If you pay by the month, the price is reduced to $25. I have been teaching long enough to cover a lot of material in a 30 minutes lesson.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? The first step is to make sure the student has an instrument that is suitable for successful learning. The next step is to evaluate the skills and interest of the student to formulate a lesson plan.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?BM from the University of Miami and teaching students from 4 to 82 for 30 years. I also have extensive Suzuki training for young children. I have taught acoustic, electric, classical, and bass guitar. I play solo, bass in two jazz groups, guitar in a soul band, and flamenco in a dance troupe.
