I hired Israel to repair a sprinkler station that was not getting triggered by the timer. He quoted me a price of $45. He came to my house the next day and it took less than 5 minutes to replace a bad solenoid. He then told me that it would cost me $100. When I vigorously pushed back on his obvious attempt at price gouging, he quickly dropped the bill to $50. On that same day, I requested an estimate to core aerate a 1500 sft lawn and he came back with a quote of $200. I requested estimates from other Pros who quoted me between $100 and $120. So once again it gave the appearance that Israel tried to overcharge me at worst, or was extremely uncompetitive at best.
I decided to give Israel a second try last month by requesting an estimate (via Thumbthack) to repair a number of issues with my sprinkler. After some back and forth on appointment times, we mutually agreed that he would come by between 10 and 11:30 AM the following day. At around 11:45 AM, he still had not shown up and never communicated that he would be late. And because I had other plans for my day, I sent him a message to let him know that I can't wait any longer because i had other things to do with my time. To my surprise, he then blamed me for not keeping our appointment and used it as cover for his no-show.
Given all our less than pleasant experiences with Martinez Landscaping, I would not recommend their services to anyone because of their unreliability on quoted price and keeping appointments.
