Introduction: I specialize in legal transcripts such as depositions, hearings, etc. so I mostly work for court reporters. Unlike others, I do NOT charge extra for weekends, and I will always take into account your individual writing preferences when proofreading. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge my clients on a per page basis that is dependent on the turnaround time they request. Standard turnaround (2-3 days) is 40 cents per page. Rush work (24-48 hours) is 60 cents per page. Expedites (less than 24 hours) is 80 cents per page. Please contact me before sending a job in order to confirm expedite availability.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In addition to a Bachelors of Arts degree from Elmhurst College, I have completed a training course that focuses specifically on proofreading for court reporters. Before finishing that course, I read through over 3,000 pages of practice transcripts in preparation for working in the field.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
About 6 months after finishing my degree in psychology, I realized that I had no idea what I was going to do with it. When I stumbled across a course that taught grammar nerds how to create their own businesses and to work from ANYWHERE, I knew this was for me.
