I work with professional athletes as a sport therapist and found that I was running on empty at the end of the day. I knew that I needed to make a change and knew I couldn't do it on my own. So I went to a local health club with a goal of having a personal trainer to ensure my success. During my tour, I noticed some trainers and thought to myself I don't want the Military looking one, he would be way to intense, after all I wasn't looking to become the Rock. Well guess what! That's who I ended up with. RJ turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to me. He put a life changing plan together that addressed my personality, physical needs and health conditions. As I look back over this life changing process I smile because anybody who knows me knows that exercise, fitness and healthy food isn't something that comes to mind when you think of me by any stretch of the imagination. I’ve been working steadily with trainers since 2005. RJ Bell is definitely one of the best I’ve worked with. He is very knowledgeable on nutrition which I feel is the most important piece in whole health. He’s very particular on correct form when exercising and lifting weights and makes sure I’m avoiding injury. I’ve always told trainers “Don’t waste your time and my money! I want a great workout and I want to be pushed.” I never have to worry about that with RJ. If you need a trainer, I hope you consider RJ. RJ is absolutely amazing and extremely smart and resourceful! He keeps me on track and helps me anytime I fall apart. At one point in my journey, I was struggling with fatigue and he gave me some helpful information to take to my doctor and I discovered I had a Vitamin D deficiency!Oct 1, 2018
The goal for me in making changes in eating and exercising was to bring my blood pressure down to an acceptable range. For me, that goal was reached in 1 month due to RJ's coaching. Other benefits: I lost 7 lbs. and I am working some muscles that I otherwise would not be exercising. In otherwords, my level of fitness has improved. I no longer want to eat sugar products, even if everyone else is having them. This is because eating fresh food and lean meats and fish and only whole grains are so amazingly satisfying and tasty that I gladly turn away from gross sugar products! These changes are worth all the effort I have put into learning how to make them. I could not and did not do this on my own. RJ's coaching and program taught me how and is now teaching me how to maintain these good new habits for life!Sep 28, 2018

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?My pricing is very customized to meet the needs of who I am working with, as goals, specific needs (medical or rehabilitation), and budget vary with each individual, so my prices will meet your level of need. I do offer discounts to Military & Veterans, as well as those who are Police, Firefighters, and Paramedics.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I work with people in-person and online. Depending upon the route that works best for you, all of my clients go through a comprehensive questionnaire to better understand your needs. This is to include discovering your current mindset for what you've been through in the past, and what kind of mindset you will need to reach your goals the most effectively. My In-person clients will go through movement assessments on Day 1 to allow me to see how your body moves mechanically and will allow me to build your program designed to your needs. Online only clients will go through a similar process, but will have videos guiding you through the process. Nutrition coaching is included into the price for what you fuel your body with determines a lot of your success.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I went to Normandale Community College for Exercise Science. I have my Precision Nutrition Level 2 Master Certification, as well as NASM Certified Personal Trainer, NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist, NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, NASM Fitness Nutrition Specialist, NSCA Certified Personal Trainer. I've been in this industry since 2007, and have worked for LA Fitness (1 yr), Snap Fitness (1 yr), and Life Time Fitness (9 yrs) prior to my current personal business.
