From 1986-1990 I served active duty as a Navy sea Bee performing all phases of construction. In 1997 I began my tenure with the California Department of Water Resources as a Utility Craftsman. This position was basically a jack of all trades . Similar to the Navy Sea Bees. Under the direction of the Army Corps of Engineers and California Reclamation Board. My department performed routine maintenance and construction within designated flood ways, the levees of the Sacramento River, San Joaquin Delta system tributaries and appurtenances. This consisted of pouring and patching concrete, performing carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, laying tile, and installing sheet rock, on various structures within these areas used to monitor and record water flow data. I also welded and fabricated gates, operated heavy equipment, laid asphalt , landscaped levee slopes and applied herbicides. In 2001, after 3 years in this position. I promoted to inspector. Inspecting the construction and maintenance of contractors, local city, county and state maintaining agencies . In 2006 a family member and myself were licensed in California as a General Building Contractor. In 2008 we resolved this license / corporation and I relocated to Las Vegas . Immediately I was employed by the Department of Transportation (NDOT ) as a Engineering Technician lll /construction inspector. After a few years of being an employee. I decide to follow my passion. I'm currently working as a handyman and loving it. But also working towards obtaining my Nevada contractors license.
