Introduction: This Cajun & Creole Cafe is the newest addition to the quickly growing food options on Lexington’s north side. Robbie Morgan, creator and former director of Crave Lexington Food + Music festival is excited to bring this tasty and friendly joint to town. J. Gumbo’s started as a Louisville-based concept and is still owned by the family who opened the first establishment. The menu features classic Cajun and Creole dishes like Étouffèe, Jambalaya and Gumbo alongside Morgan’s own daily handcrafted and seasonal Kentucky Proud specials. Morgan has partnered with Rock House Brewery and Sorella Gelateria to bring more local flavors to the table. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free menu items, plus catering, delivery and affordable quick service are highlights.

Wow - Robbie is a bestie who brings magic to all she touches. So I felt confident asking her to cater a retirement luncheon for a cherished colleague. This was big and it had to be right. Every person at the luncheon was blown away by how good, unique and flavorful the food was! We had the Jambalaya with Okra and Sausage, Drunken Chicken, Carnivale Slaw, White Rice and Rum Raisin Breading Pudding - all insanely good. Robbie also accommodated a special request to add Blackened Salmon Filets as a bonus for my retiring colleague and they were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The food arrived on time, was hot, everyone was beyond happy and was reasonably priced! I simply, cannot say enough and cannot wait for J. gumbo's opening. Fantastic!

Stopped by for lunch with my wife this week. We have always loved J Gumbos and were super excited when we found out one was opening in Lexington. It is awesome to see that Robbie is going to get to do some cool local options with the menu and my personal favorite, Bourbon Street Chicken, was outstanding. Well definitely be coming back!

The food is so good you will sit and contemplate your future. This setting is so sublime you'll feel like a beast within your soul has settled down for a nap. You will leave nourished on levels you didn't you could feel nourished. Don't wait to stop in, but take your time while you're here.
