Introduction: I'm a detail-oriented professional with broad technical expertise from decades of experience in Information Technology (Computers, networking, etc). I'm gentle with my clients and their gear. Here is some of what I support...
Setup/Repair/Troubleshooting:
Windows, Mac, Linux computer desktops/laptops/servers, Android/iOS smartphones/tablets, wearable tech like smart watches/fitness trackers, internet connectivity, simple to expansive wired and wireless networks, network modems/routers/switches/bridges/repeaters/access points, printers, streaming devices, as well as safe and convenient password management.
Remote Support:
I usually go to the customer's/client's location, but when desired (and appropriate for the need), I also provide support remotely to customers and clients with whom I have already established a working relationship (whether through Thumbtack, or elsewhere). When requested or approved by the client, this is usually done through online services like TeamViewer, or Zoho Assist.
Extended Hands-on Services:
For internet connections, if desired, I'll communicate with your ISP on your behalf to get all of the details worked out, and I'll install/setup/configure hardware/software. I also do cabling; including anything from tidying up your computer area to professionally installed cable runs with wall plates throughout residential or business structures.
Training:
I used to teach basic computer classes at a community college. So, I can also give quick tutorials, and/or more extensive training on various IT-related hardware/software/systems if desired.
Home Automation & Security:
SmartThings setup with all the usual stuff like lights, switches, doors, locks, motion detectors, as well as voice control via Alexa, and wall-mounted, Android-based, touch-screen control panels in any room, smart/connected lawn sprinkler systems, HVAC, thermostats, water heaters, leak detection/flood prevention, and more.
I love working with people:
For me, the person using IT-related equipment or systems is always more important than the tech itself. The thing I enjoy the most is knowing someone's experience with their tech will be better after it (and/or they) spends some time with me. :)
Also, I know how technology works, and if I encounter something I'm not familiar with, I know how to dig into the available information resources, and learn to figure it out (or refer the client to someone else with more appropriate expertise in a given area). That said, long-term, real-world experience has taught me to never over-promise, but to always strive to over-deliver. Bottom line: I'm here to serve you, and I'm not satisfied unless or until YOU are.
Photos:
I haven't really taken photos of any of my work over the years; mainly because my work is on other people's computers and networks in their private homes and businesses. Please feel free to take as many photos of me and my work as you want while I'm assisting you.
p.s. I went into partial retirement, took some time off from doing IT work as an intense aspect of my life (other than for friends and family) for a few years, and am just starting to get back into it again (as of spring, 2022).
Also, my pricing/fee policy remains as it was when I was more active on Thumbtack a few years ago... I know that not everyone can afford good IT Support, but everyone deserves it. So, I only ask that the customer/client pays me a reasonable amount (of their choice, within whatever their budget can afford) that reflects how satisfied they are with whatever I was able to accomplish for them.
