FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Given that I perform a wide array of services, I'm pretty open to discussions about what price is appropriate for your specific project. If you'd like to do it on an hourly basis, I'm happy to figure out a reasonable base rate, or we can set a number for the whole project.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to chat with my customer--on the phone or via Skype--about what they're hoping to accomplish, be it self-publishing a novel, acing an upcoming paper, or prepping for the SAT. I then nail down exactly what they're looking for on my end, and tell them, point by point, what is included in my service fee (I strive to ensure people get their money's worth). After that's taken care of, I set some goals for our progress, as well as a timeline. The remaining steps vary, based on the project.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm currently receiving my B.F.A. at UChicago, and for the past six or so years, have been paid to give input on scripts for various TV production companies. I've edited a number of books via services similar to Thumbtack (I'm happy to link prospective clients to my Upwork account).
