FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
$25 per hour. If student wants to have materials, I will a send them or ask for reimbursement for copy charges. If student lives more than 5 miles from Lynnwood, then I will charge $30 per hour for each additional 7 miles to cover gas and commute time.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I assess my students' reading, writing, listening and speaking skills through various activities. These activities help me learn what and how to teach my students and to develop realistic short- and long-term goals with them. I ask students or their translator about the student's educational, vocational (if applicable) and language learning background as part of this assessment. Finally, I use this information and what they tell me about their interests to create lessons that will teach them what they want to know in a way that they find fun, interesting, challenging and relevant to their lives.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taught English language skills as a volunteer for several years. I have taken 1 year of linguistics courses, earned a degree in Public Information (to write and speak for an organization) and completed 1 of 3 courses toward my TESOL certificate. I will earn my certificate in June 2016.
