FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes, payment and payment plans are outlined in my detailed studio syllabus. Contact me/request a quote for more specific information, and for a copy of my syllabus.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
At the first lesson we usually take the first 10 to 15 minutes as a meet and greet, and or Q&A. In that time I'll ask you questions about yourself, musical tastes, and your availability for scheduling future lessons. After that, we sing and or play piano! For piano, we will dive in to the lesson books, while discussing posture, hand position, and music theory/sight reading. For voice: I'll spend the rest of the lesson warming up your voice, listening to your range, and getting familiar with your instrument. I'll then discuss technical aspects of your singing, and offer guidance to make the singing easy, and healthy to optimize your sound, and tone. I also ask that the student bring a song or two to either sing or play, if they can. At the end of the lesson, or right before our time is up, I ask the student to sing or play the song they brought in. By listening to you sing or play something you know well (from that latest Adele hit, to The Happy Birthday Song, or Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star), it gives me a chance to evaluate your singing voice, and or playing, and again determine more strengths, as well as technical issues that need to be fixed. I always close the lesson recapping what we worked on, and assigning you tasks to practice and think about as it pertains to what we worked on in the lesson, before I see you again the next week.
