Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I help demystify the ACT for students. I've developed a lesson plan that focuses on ACT-specific test-taking strategies for optimal time management and reduced testing anxiety. I identify where students have blind spots in the content areas on the test and work on practice problems with them to achieve content mastery. Most importantly, I tailor my lesson plans to the student's unique situation and needs. Tutoring is a joy. I love to build students' confidence and make them feel they're prepared to take a test they once found overwhelming or confusing. If I can help a student complete one part of the college admissions process and make it a bright spot on their application, then I've done my job well.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I provide discounts when parents purchase tutoring up-front in blocks. This helps us both plan ahead and provides clarity for the student's lesson plan. For parents who want more flexibility, they can choose hourly tutoring or combine hourly tutoring with packages. Package fees are due upfront. I also can provide an ACT Barron's book to the student for the cost of the book ($15). For students who'd like to tutor at their home, there may be an additional fee for travel beyond a certain distance.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I start with a consultation (by phone or in person), ideally with both the parent and student. We discuss their history with the ACT or Pre-ACT, their testing habits in school, the classes they've taken, and what schools they're looking to apply to. After that consultation and within the first hour of tutoring, I can provide a lesson plan of how I will proceed with covering the test, customized to the student's needs. Often, students will take a diagnostic ACT so that I can further tailor the plan to areas they need to improve upon.
