What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We include project pricing in our quotes, typically estimating the time that it will take for us to complete a project.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once a quote is submitted and the customer is interested in moving forward, we have an initial complimentary interview by phone to decide next steps. An engagement letter is prepared for customer's signature, once we have a final agreement to move forward. The engagement letter includes the agreed upon price and scope of work. We can then set weekly or regular meeting times, using the phone, Skype, Google Hangout or other online tools so that the customer always has access to work in progress and meeting notes.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Nita Black has a BBA degree from the University of Memphis in Memphis, TN, majoring in Accounting. Her background includes over 25 years banking experience with a national bank and 15+ years consulting experience through her own firm. She has worked with many small business owners over the years. She has volunteered in community leadership roles that have added experience in working with individuals who are in transition or who want something more out of life than what they are currently experiencing.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Nita started working at a large bank in the early 1970s. A single mom with two children she gradually worked her way through different jobs to a VP level at the bank. Customer relationship management and client satisfaction are values that are part of her DNA. Planning, budgeting, financing, and going after what you really want in life - no matter what - are a way of life for Nita.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Nita has worked with individuals, businesses, and non-profits, having served in leadership roles on several non-profit boards.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Nita recently worked with a lady to complete a worksheet that was used to pitch her business to a room full of investors. We spent about three weeks upgrading her business plan and completing the worksheet so that she could give her pitch to access capital. We explored strategic alternatives that helped her decide what she wanted out of her business. As to life coaching (which is often integrated with job search and career development and sometimes entrepreneurship) we have been working with a lady for about 4 years, initially meeting weekly. She has paid off all of her personal debt and has a successful business venture that she is very proud of. We have also worked with many people in transition to keep their head up while on the search for a decent job so that they can feed their families.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
We would advise a customer to talk with the provider and make sure they are compatible as to personalities and style, in addition to professional experience and five star customer reviews.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
What is your need, what keeps you up at night and why? How would you define a successful outcome? As to business planning, what are your key revenue drivers? What are gaps in your business, people or expertise needed that you don't have? As to life planning and life coaching, what would make you happy? If we know your needs, we can tell you whether or not we can help you meet those needs.
