Good Dog Karma
About this pro
Hi, my name is Mona of Good Dog Karma, and I am passionate about your pup! I have studied ethology (the science of animal behavior) and have been a professional dog trainer since 2007. I offer training, walking, sitting, boarding, and general pet care. I grew up with and have worked with dogs of all sizes, from tiny teacups to gentle giants, and I love them all! My current dog, Lola, is a Therapy Dog, and we volunteer at hospice and elder care facilities; I also volunteer at a dog shelter, where I walk and socialize dogs in need. Dogs give us so much in so many ways, so I believe every dog deserves respect, patience, and love. I can't wait to take special care of your special four-legged friend! I also would love to care for your non-canine animals like cats, reptiles, birds, etc. There is an honesty, vulnerability, and total openness to dogs that is so irresistible, so when a dog trusts me to take care of him or her, or even just to show him or her some affection, I am deeply honored and take that responsibility seriously. I also want people in my community who have animals to feel that they have neighborly support, that they can rely on someone to take very good care of their animals when needed. That will hopefully make the client feel like they have more freedom and flexibility, and that they have help and don't have to only rely on themselves. I think small things like that make for a more interconnected community in general.
Customers rated this pro highly for value, punctuality, and work quality.
First training very goodMay 9, 2018Verified
Mona was great. She was very detailed about what she did for Fluffy. She welcomed my phone calls when I saw she had started her visit. I will recommend her highly to everyone.Feb 25, 2018Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Pricing listed is general and may change in some situations, but will always be fully disclosed and agreed upon before a booking is finalized. Training: $85-95 per session (45-60 minutes); Walking: $18 for 30 min, $5 per additional dog (discount for repeating/scheduled walks); Drop-In Visits/Potty Breaks: $18 each; Doggy Daycare (in my home or your home): $30 for 10am-5pm or any portion thereof, $10 for early drop-off (7am-10am), $10 for late pick-up (5pm-8pm), $10 per additional dog; Dog Boarding (in my home) or Dog Sitting (in your home): $40 per night for 8pm-7am or any portion thereof, $10 per additional dog. Additional fees may apply on non-training services for un-neutered males, very young puppies, dogs that are not fully housebroken (for dog boarding or daycare in my home only), holiday bookings, etc. We can discuss and negotiate specific pricing for your unique needs. Services can be combined; for example, if you want me to pick up your dog and walk the dog for 30 minutes on the way back to my home for daycare, that's one dog walking plus daycare (and it saves you from having to drop the dog off). Multiple services, extended stays, etc. can be combined into packages for a discount.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? Before a booking, I’d be happy to set up a meet-and-greet on neutral ground, even if that's just the lobby of the apartment building or a park bench down the block from your residence. If the booking is just a quick walk or the owner prefers otherwise, then I'm fine with doing the meet-and-greet in the client's home. I always enter without a fuss, get low to the ground soon, and respond to the animal's body language and signals about what makes him or her comfortable or uncomfortable I will communicate with you to make sure I have all the relevant information: vet contact info, what activities your pup enjoys, anything off-limits, any triggers your dog might have, whether she/he liked other dogs and/or humans, where they like to be petted, their favorite toys and treats, and any medical or behavioral issues I should know about. I know how hard it is to be away from your furry friend so I’ll be in consistent and frequent communication! I’ll be sending photo and text updates so you know what a fun time we’re having and how safe your pup is in my care. After the booking, I always write a summary of everything we did, any issues that arose and how I addressed them, my sincere thanks for the opportunity to take care of your pup, and the hope that I will be able to hang out with your dog again soon!
