I’m at a loss as to how she could improve. I basically feel I absolutely flushed $600 down the toilet. I hired her to write a keynote speech in a storytelling format. She gave me a draft so poorly written my (my 13 year old could have written more eloquently). She wasted hours on the phone with me to “interview” me, which was spend primarily with her talking about herself & her family dynamics. This reflected in the draft which was consumed of wrong information. She threatened to send me to her “legal” department if I did not pay her 2nd installment of $300 once she sent me the crap she called a draft. She offered to keep working with me, insisting that it was a draft. I spent hours trying to edit her “draft” then realized 1. I was the one rewriting the whole thing and 2. If her writing in the draft was crappy, why continue working with her. I fired her & wrote my speech myself. Total waste of time, energy, & money. She can justify & brag all day about all she says she’s done & written but all I can say is her writing was really bad.Mar 31, 2018Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I have priced proposals for living in both commercial and gov't arena's for over 20 years and it is my job to know what the going hourly rate is for almost every position in the workplace. When I make my bids on Thumback, please know I am offering you a fair and honest rate for the work you are asking me to price. Others will just be guessing at what the hourly rate should be. I know what the hourly rate is because it is my job to know as I write gov't RFP project responses to these types of jobs corporately on a daily basis. I always try to provide a discount to you that will be reflected in my bid rate, as I am a small business owner myself and understand the cash flow struggle. I understand the limitations you are under financially to get the best product at an affordable rate. I try to provide that to you every time I bid.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I begin by having a telephone discussion after the customer shows interest in my services. We will discuss the project requirements, the project schedule and the project cost at that time. Once we start working together, I am able to work independently without supervision and will come to my customer contact via email or phone (whichever is preferred by customer) for questions and clarification. I will usually supply a draft of my work to the customer for review and updates are made several times until the customer is satisfied with the end product. I request a deposit be made (will be determined based on total price of project) and then full payment will need to be made upon receipt of invoice.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a BS Degree in Communications and Business. I have written all types of government responses and quote materials. I have also done sales and marketing materials for Freddie Mac customers and have written customer training materials and taught two day courses for Freddie Mac customers. It takes an average of 8-10 years to learn how to do government proposals (both technical and cost/pricing responses). I have done all back office accounting and billing functions as well for all areas of project program control, invoicing and contract/project set up et all for government and commercial contracts. I am proficient on Deltek CostPoint and all Microsoft products.
