We met with Ben at Ekahi Contracting to get a quote for painting the interior of our home. He really stood out as being more professional than the other painters that we met with. He quickly emailed estimates with different options. His contract was clear and concise, spelling out exactly what work is to be done (including clean-up afterwards) and when payments are due. He and his crew did a great job painting our whole interior, including the walls, ceilings, trim and doors. We had our old carpet taken out, planning to install the new carpet after the painting was done. Ben pointed out that we had a spot in the floor that had water damage, and that he could fix it. He took out the damaged sub-floor, inspected to make sure that there was no mold underneath, and fixed the floor. He again made a clear contract for this job, as before, and did a great job. We were also planning to have our deck repainted, and asked Ben about doing that. He was also able to fix our wobbly stairs (they are very sturdy and stable now). They sanded, primed and painted our deck, rails, lattice and stairs. Ben also used a special deck treatment for the floor of the deck that lasts longer than paint and is slip-resistant. We are very happy with the quality of work that we received from Ekahi Contracting and are planning to have Ben do some renovation work on our kitchen and bathrooms next.

We found him and his crew very particular to quality & detail. Ben listens to what the customer is asking for. He has great recommendations and shows you a plan before the work gets started. We will add photos as the project moves along. CJC

I hired Ben and his company to fix my second story deck and what stands out for me the most is Ben and the outstanding men who work for him. First, the General Contractor, Ben, was involved in every aspect of the job and kept me abreast of the job while also recommending areas of importance. His expertise was invaluable as a lot of his initial concerns on the deck have been shown to be true. Both Ben and his men's enthusiasm and love for their job was evident everyday by how they explain what they were doing and the importance on why they were doing it a certain way. They are focused on doing the best job possible. Their work ethics is a reflection of their boss, Ben. When Ben first came out to my home he immediately noted the wood rot on my deck and made it clear he can't determine the extent of the wood rot until they start to remove a couple deck boards to install flashing. He also voiced his concerns how the deck was originally waterproofed and stated how he believes decks such as mine should be done and explained why. He also made some key recommendations to improve the safety of the deck and to make it more efficient such as: 1. He noted the railings of the deck was a safety concern due to the wood rot and how it was installed. 2. He noted how he could divert water to our gutter system in an area where water falls freely which adds to the flooding we get during heavy rain beneath the deck. 3. Because of flooding we get during heavy rain, Ben, extended a portion of my deck by a foot so it overlaps our lower deck which is built on our downward sloping backyard. This is extremely helpful in that the water runoff does not fall directly on our concrete beneath the deck where it pools/floods, but, rather the water now falls onto our lower deck and further down our downward sloping backyard. 4. He recommended sidings to be used underneath the deck to hide the joists. 5. He recommended before he installs the sidings he can cut holes for lighting if I wanted to add lighting. I would've never have thought of these recommendations and am so thankful Ben did. Other contractors I hired charged more than Ben and their workmanship was no way near the quality of Bens...plus, they did not offer me any recommendations...Ben truly...I mean truly wanted to help me. It was like he was doing this project for his own house with the safety of his own family in mind. Attached are a few pictures...I have an older picture that shows what the underneath of my second floor deck used to look like...joists visible---I just assumed that's the way it's supposed to look like when you have a second story deck. The other two pictures are the 'after' pictures of what Ben did (after he tore down and rebuilt my second floor deck), his recommendations totally changed the look and functionality of my home which also immediately increased the value of my home. Ben basically renewed my faith that there are good contractors out there where you don't have to pay an arm and a leg....I got extremely lucky when I found Ben and his outstanding workers. You simply can not go wrong with Ben!

We've had the pleasure of hiring Ekahi Contracting LLC to expand a room in the attic, add a window, and an office area. The project was completed in January and we were very pleased with the quality of the work and the added free touches not originally in the bid. The reason I am only leaving this review now is the amazing follow up and responsiveness of Ben. As the work was originally completed in the winter, some of the drywall did not dry as well and we started noticing a few microscopic cracks when things started warming up. We contacted Ben about it and he came over and took a look, and decided to refinish that entire area for us to make it look pristine. That is a full five months after completion of the project. To me, that is the ultimate professionalism.
