FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I can work on an hourly rate or a flat fee. Once we discuss your project in detail, I can submit a flat fee quote to you.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to begin with a phone call to assess your needs. From there, we can determine your scope of work and pricing. If it is a traditional ghostwriting project, we start with several days of interviews where I interview you (intensely). From there, I begin researching and outlining. Next, I complete the first draft of the manuscript and send it to you. You make adjustments, answer my questions, fill in some details, and then I work on the second draft of the manuscript. I can guarantee a complete manuscript in 6-8 months, depending on the project. If it is an editing project, I like to clarify what kind of editing you need: developmental or line editing. Once I know the word count, I can give you flat quote. I can turn around editing projects pretty quickly.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Ph.D. in Rhetoric, Composition, and Linguistics, but it's easier to just say I have a Ph.D. in "writing"! I have taught various university-level writing courses for over ten years, including writing memoir/autobiography and non-fiction. My dissertation was based on in-person interviews with sex workers and taught me a tremendous amount about interviewing, empathy, and the importance of the individual story. This breadth of training has given me the background knowledge to understand writing from an historical perspective and kept me engaged with the most up-to-date literature on research, writing, and editing.
