Introduction: I am a licensed elementary school teacher (K-8) who specializes in reading and writing tutoring services, Reading MCA and Science MCA test preparation, and homework help to K-8 students who are below, at or above grade level. There are many reasons parents seek out a tutor. One of my specialties is building relationships with students. This is particularly helpful when a student experiences barriers to learning. Barriers to learning come in varied forms -- large class sizes, anxiety, self-esteem, ADHD, learning disabilities, social concerns, special needs or a lack of connection to a subject or even a teacher are some examples. Working one-on-one with a licensed teacher who is passionate about her students and their learning style may help your child build skills that can assist them in moving past the barriers they face. My love for children and learning guides my passion of teaching. This, along with my background in psychology, provide the foundation for my extraordinary relationship building skills. I get to know my student's personal interests, academic strengths and academic weaknesses. I use this information along with academic assessments to create learning goals and tailored instruction.
