I was an usher in the wedding. I know Joey personally, but I had never experienced him DJ before. Understanding Joey's past experiences giving tours for a university, being a part of youth programming, and helping to start and grow a local band helps me to understand why he was so effective in both his roles as MC and DJ. As MC, he is very consciously aware of the crowd he is dealing with and chooses his words and activities purposefully and he does these things with a respectful, commanding presence and attitude that people feed off of. As a DJ, he again is significantly consciously aware of the group of people he was dealing with, and what I remember is consistent dancing throughout the entire night. I have been to plenty of weddings where I end up taking many breaks which can partly be the result of the skill of a DJ. It helps the group of people as a whole liked to and were respectable dancers. All in all, from my slightly biased, but I believe significantly honest perspective, Joey enhanced the quality of the receptions in multiple ways both as an MC and DJ and I have no doubt he could do it again, he is too talented and too experienced for it to be an accident. I would recommend Joey to other people for sure and I would recommend bringing some extra cash to give him a tip because you may regret not doing it later when you really dwell on the quality and depth of his work.

I've worked with Joey on multiple occasions and in multiple roles at weddings. As a wedding ceremony musician - Joey was punctual, well-organized, and mixed our sound with great skill and competence. This is pretty rare. As a wedding guest - he has a way of using his personality to capture the attention of wedding reception guests, making for a lively and entertaining experience as he facilitates the night. As a (picky) wedding dance playlist critic - Joey has his DJ skills dialed in. He knows how to escalate the playlist with the mood of the night, mixing in fun events, slow songs, classics, and downright bangers that keep the wedding dance energetic. I highly recommend him. His personality, professionalism, and ability to execute all make for a seemingly flawless celebration experience!

Do you have family or friends that need help expressing their passion on the dance floor? Joey is your guy. I saw him firsthand get on the floor with everybody and narrate the dance with a wireless microphone and perform it at the same time. He knows that his job is to get the party started. With Joey, you'll get even the most boring curmudgeons to jump around on the dance floor.

Joey Olson played music and DJ'd for my wedding. My wife and I are both musically challenged to say the least, so it was a huge blessing knowing that Joey was well experienced in all facets of the industry to take the project on himself. He did great. The music and sound quality could not have gone any better. I would definitely hire Joey for all of your sound and music needs.

Attended one of Joeys weddings this summer and loved his style. He has the ability of creating a fun and attractive dancing atmosphere from start to finish. He interacted and engaged everyone around him and was able to maintain a professional persona while doing so. (Which I have found to not always be the case with other DJ's at weddings I have attended.) He seemed extremely relevant and very personable..also had no technical difficulties. I wish I would have known about him for my own wedding!!

Pricing is variable depending on availability
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always start with trying to understand exactly what it is the customer is looking for, and establishing good, prompt communication. I also have a detailed questionnaire I send out that helps me understand all the details of the wedding.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have three years experience as a trained youth presenter and DJ for retreats all across the nation. I also have four years experience as a band leader in Minneapolis, entertaining crowds and setting up sound systems in all sorts of spaces.
