Jenny, it was a pleasure to serve you and your family. They were very generous in their praise of the food. The Flambeed Steak Diane was well received. The butternut squash with pecans and dried cranberries seemed to be a big hit, as were the garlic mashed potatoes. It's always a complement when the food has completely disappeared.
I hired Diane to cook a multi-course meal in the comfort of our home in order to surprise my husband for Valentines Day. We agreed upon a menu, a time, a price and we were good to go. On the day of we corresponded a bit and she offered some of her personal items to help decorate for the special night which was above and beyond. I didn't need them but I did appreciate the offer. Diane is friendly, responsive and the food she made was DIVINE! Part of our meal included cream corn and French onion soup, both my husbands favorites. He loved both items. We were so full, we couldn't even eat the dessert we had planned for the evening. My husband said one more bite and he would have exploded. Diane was efficient in the kitchen, we were able to see the flambé for the steak from the dining room where we were enjoying our salad. She served the meal and cleaned up as each course went along. It was a new experience for both of us and it ended up being a very special evening.Feb 15, 2018VerifiedDiane L.'s reply
Just took a look at your response with the pics. Even Thumbtack labeled it a sterling review. Again, many thanks. You are a very special couple...so rare.
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Personal chef pricing is $40/hr. Cooking lessons can range from $25-$40 depending on the client's advancement.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Initial contact is texting through Thumbtack. Client calls to discuss needs. A meeting is set up to discuss details. Tastings are available if within a 10 mile radius; there is a nominal fee. Typically, I travel to client. Payment is made at end of dinner party, or weekly if client needs daily meals.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?My education in food started when I was a teenager. By 19 years old, I discovered Gourmet magazine, Bon Appetit, Cuisine and Food & Wine. I immediately started cooking for others: personal chef and catering. Several years into raising a family, I went back to school and got a degree in Graphic Design. I returned to the food industry about ten years later, again as a personal chef. I now have 20 years of serious cooking experience. I cook nearly every cuisine, use professional techniques, while keeping a fun and friendly relationship with my clients. I have cooked many years for those with health issues. Among the latest diets, I cook Paleo method, gluten free, cancer diet, diabetes, auto-immune and more. All food tastes absolutely delicious, as that's what I want with every meal I eat. Because I love my clients, it's easy to give them my best.
