Amber is absolutely amazing! She is patient (which I definitely need) and more than willing to instruct me in depth on how things work and why (music theory). She is incredibly knowledgable and passionate about music. She was also willing to work with my hectic schedule and work out a personalized amount of time to practice. 10/10 would recommend!Feb 21, 2017Verified
Amber is wonderful with our 6yo daughter. She helps her to break down the music and beat and is a very positive, motivational, and encouraging teacher. We are all very pleased with our choice in Amber.Feb 13, 2017Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My pricing is based on a monthly rate of $115/month for weekly 30-minute lessons. If you'd like a longer lesson, let me know and I'm happy to give you a monthly rate for that as well.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I typically chat for a few minutes on the phone with a potential student (or parent of a potential student) before meeting them. This allows me to hear more of what you are looking for in a teacher, what your previous experience with the piano may be, and allows you to hear more about my professional background and teaching approach. After this, if you'd like to proceed, you are welcome to schedule a FREE first lesson (30-minutes) so that you can try me out and see if I'm a good fit for you. At that point, if you'd like to sign up for lessons, we review my studio policy and sign it together .
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I was trained classically on the piano from ages 8-18, after which point I studied piano performance in college for 2 years, mostly under Dr. Stephen Thomas at CSU Stanislaus. I ended up taking a detour and getting a master's degree in counseling psychology in Seattle in 2013. But my love of music and children eventually drew me back to teaching again! I now work as a part-time therapist and part-time piano teacher and am so grateful for the opportunity to work in both fields.
