Hello Anonymous Customer! Thank you for letting us know how we can improve. At times, it is difficult to get an accurate idea of a job without seeing it in person, so severe stains, heavily soiled carpet, extra areas or pieces of furniture that were not listed on the original request, etc. all require adjustments in price. Without knowing your name, I am unsure as to your specific situation, but these are the usual reasons for price adjustments. Hopefully this helps clarify the reason for the adjustment! - What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Our pricing system varies greatly depending on several factors. For carpet cleaning, it depends on the condition and soil level of the carpet - more soiled carpet takes more time and effort to clean, and so is more expensive. Another factor which might affect pricing is the presence of furniture: an empty home is the easiest to clean, and is therefore cheaper. Our most common request is to simply clean the exposed carpet without moving furniture, which is our moderately priced option. We are also able to move and clean under furniture, after which we move the furniture back to its original position and place it up on styrofoam blocks to avoid contact with the wet carpet. This is the most expensive option because it requires the greatest amount of time. For mold remediation, our cost depends on factors such as the location of the mold, amount of mold present, etc. For water damage, our pricing is just as subjective, based on the amount of water, the area affected, presence of mold, etc.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?When starting with a new customer requesting mold or water damage help, we will often set up a time over the phone or email when we can drop by for an estimate. One of our technicians will arrive at the scheduled time, in uniform, and take a look at the area to be worked on. For carpet or tile and grout cleaning estimates, a quote can usually be given over Thumbtack, email, or a phone call, and then the technician will verify that the amount is correct once they arrive for the cleaning appointment. For mold or water damage remediation, quotes are calculated precisely using the same computer program used by insurance adjusters - a system called Xactimate, which we pay a subscription fee to maintain. This program keeps track of current market prices of all materials and labor. Putting together an Xactimate estimate can take a few days, but will be very accurate provided we have all the necessary information. We keep in contact with the customer after submitting our estimate in order to schedule a time for work to begin.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Although the state of Indiana has no legal requirements for mold remediators, water damage specialists, or carpet cleaners, our technicians are IICRC certified to perform theses services. This means that they are required to take a certain number of classes every few years in order to keep up their certification. The continued education means that we are constantly learning new ways of doing things and growing along with the industry.
