About this pro
I am a New York based pianist and piano teacher. I also give instruction in music history and music theory. Like many people, I began playing the piano at a young age and soon fell in love with the instrument. This led me to pursue a degree in piano performance and since then, I have had an active career in performing, writing musicological articles and providing musical instruction to students of all ages. As a teacher, I learn as much from my students as they do from me. The most important thing to me is that my students enjoy the process of learning, and I do this through taking the time to understand and appreciate each student's unique personality and skill set. Every student has the potential to be great at what they do-all they need is motivation, hard work, and a passion for learning. My job is to provide the student with the tools to succeed and enjoy music!

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My rates are affordable and reasonable, and they are based on the length of the lesson. For the first lesson, I will only charge half of the usual rate!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I like to find out as much as I can about a potential student before the first lesson (i.e. have they taken lessons before, what motivated them to want to start, what are they looking to get out of the lessons, etc.) I also like to give a little bit of my background so that they get to know me better and feel comfortable asking me questions. Lessons are usually once a week, and the length of the lesson varies on the age of the student. Before the first lesson, the student and I discuss any material (i.e. lesson books) that may need to be purchased so that by the time the first lesson rolls around, we are good to go!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I began playing the piano at the age of 6, and violin at the age of 9. In high school, I realized that I didn't have ample time to devote to both instruments so I put the violin aside and focused on the piano. At 16, I began studying with Oxana Yablonskaya for two years, with whom I attended the Puigcerda International Music Festival in Puigcerda, Spain. I have my B.M. in piano performance from the Manhattan School of Music where I studied with Nina Svetlanova for four years. I have also taken master classes and coachings with Raymond Beegle, Yuri Kim, Frank Levy, Laurie Carney, Wolfram Koessel, and David Dubal.
