Highly recommend Rose for tutoring a high school or middle school child. After working with Rose their grades improved significantly.Dec 18, 2016Verified
Rose is an amazing young lady, she is a good match with my middle school aged granddaughter. Offering her ability to break down math problems for a simpler understanding. She is outstanding and is modest in her own accomplishments.May 18, 2016Verified

- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? It is very important to not treat every tutoring session with the same "formula". Just as everyone learns differently, all students also are unique in their motivation, interest, goals, time commitment, focus, frustration or excitement, and desire to lead or be led. The first few sessions are critical to determining how to balance each of these needs and how to present information in a way that they will understand. When working with a new customer I pay particular attention to these subtleties so that I can best help them meet their needs.
- How did you get started doing this type of work? After graduating with my Bachelor's in Neurobiology, I had experience working in a research laboratory but wanted to try something totally new. I decided to give tutoring a try and started out with one Organic Chemistry student and discovered that I loved it!
- What types of customers have you worked with?I mainly work with high school and college students, as well as students young as 12 and adults preparing for the MCAT or GRE. I have experience helping struggling students who are not naturally interested in math and science, so I know how to guide and encourage them without pushing too hard or too little. I have also worked with highly motivated students who learn best by guiding the tutoring session themselves and focusing on the particularly questions they want to bring to the table.
