Introduction: My name is Joseph. I began playing the piano and writing music at a very young age. I've been teaching for over ten years, and I love sharing music with my students. I specialize in piano, composition, and music theory, and I play many genres ranging from classical to R&B.
I'm currently pursuing a PhD in Music Composition at The Graduate Center, CUNY, and I have taught undergraduate courses at Queens College, CUNY.
I love sharing music with my students. I find that students are the most motivated when they are playing music that they love, so I tailor my curriculum to fit your interests and abilities. I want you to have fun, while being stimulated and challenged! Here are some sample topics we will cover:

I had the opportunity to take piano lessons with Joseph in 2014, and could not have asked for a more competent or accommodating instructor. Joseph is an accomplished teacher, composer, arranger, and accompanist across a variety of styles and genres, and was able to craft lessons that met my diverse personal goals (which for me were a combination of learning classical piano technique, R&B/pop arrangements and basic music theory). He made my goals feel attainable and gave me practical tools to work towards them. Joseph was INCREDIBLY patient and lessons felt efficient and FUN! I would HIGHLY recommend Joseph to musicians of any level looking to broaden their theory knowledge, polish original compositions, or sharpen their piano skills in any style. Joseph is amazing!

Joseph is a dream to work with. I have had the pleasure of collaborating with Joseph on numerous occasions, and he has proven to be an exceptionally skilled and technically proficient musician and an incredibly intuitive and soulful artist and performer. He deeply understands the mechanics and theory of music and at the same time is able to improvise and adapt instinctively and dynamically. It's rare to find someone who so effortlessly brings these different characteristics together. I've learned a great deal simply by making music with him. Perhaps beyond all of that, he exudes a wonderful energy that is a joy to be around, and he brings a passion and excitement for music to his work that is infectious.
