Introduction: As a Harvard undergraduate, I worked for nearly three years as a peer tutor at the Bureau of Study Counsel. In this capacity, I met with fellow Harvard undergraduates at least once a week to offer assistance with test preparation, essay writing, study habits and planning, and course material comprehension.
I observe with pride the growing confidence of my tutees as, week by week, they asserted their mastery over the challenges through which I guided them, and I am excited to continue in this line of work now that I have graduated.
In addition to my standardized test prep specialty, I am uniquely qualified to offer college admissions counselling because, as a non-legacy student from a large, underfunded public school district, I received acceptance offers from Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, Brown, Dartmouth, Cornell, and a host of other top universities.

This was my first session with Martin. I met with him to work on my essay writing skills for AP US history. He impressed me right away with his knowledge and passion for the subject, especially President Lincoln. American history isn't a subject I usually enjoy but his style of tutoring made it more enjoyable because it felt more like a friendly conversation than anything else. We discussed mainly essay writing strategies and how to write more analytically which is something I've struggled with. We also went over thesis statements and developing analytical arguments. It never made sense when my teacher explained it but he made it very clear and simple. he is also a very friendly guy with a good personality. I would recommend him to anyone who needs to work on essay writing or just wants to prepare for the Ap exam with a tutor who really cares about the subject and won't make it a drag.

My daughter needed some prep for the U.S. history AP and SAT subject tests. Martin was a very big help in preparing her for both exams. He implemented a strategy that helped her study very efficiently. Together they covered tons of material in each one hour session. They zeroed in on time periods that my daughter had not covered in school. Martin also kept a running log of any topics which were a weaker area for my daughter and he circled back to them to make sure she had digested the material they had covered. Martin is extremely knowledgable and organized. He is very clear and thorough in his explanations. My daughter loved working with Martin because he was a great help to her and he was also very encouraging and supportive! We highly recommend Martin as a tutor.

Martin has been tutoring my daughter for her ACT this June 2017. He has helped improve her score from an inconsistent 29, to a solid 32. He has a profound understanding of critical reasoning and analysis which has made a huge difference in her approach of the ACT. He's also been excellent at helping with general test-taking skills.
He identified my daughter's strengths and weaknesses and has given her confidence in her skills. Along with the ACT tutoring, he has also proofread English assignments and had a few sessions tutoring for the SAT II in World + American History (which she is taking this summer, and I will be booking more sessions for).
I plan to continue hiring Martin for Fall college applications.

Martin was awesome! He was quick to asses where I was struggling and kept me focused on the tasks at hand. Every question I had was explained and addressed thoroughly. I felt way better after our session and If I ever need help again I would call Martin back in a heartbeat.
