Introduction: Curiosity and discovery have brought me great joy and freedom that I have been compelled to share with others from the moment I could speak. And I have found the fulfillment of celebrating another's success through my teaching is just as sweet as having succeeded myself. After graduating cum laude in mechanical engineering, I completed a master's degree in engineering, teaching and counseling undergraduate students along the way. After graduate school, I taught introductory engineering at a local technical college. The way that I tutor is particular to the student and based on three distinct goals. First, I learn in what ways my pupil learns best so I can personalize the learning plan to the student. Second, I apply this style of teaching with each lesson until the student is confident enough to teach others the lesson himself. Then third, I transform the student's view until they see the lesson in the world around them--a mathematical formula in the way that the leaves move with the wind or a rhetorical strategy in the body language of two people chatting at the park. It is in applying knowledge that words on a page become truly powerful and the efforts of learning become fruitful. Through the study of engineering that lasted seven years and a career in engineering ever since, I have mastered many branches of mathematics such that I can see the math in the world around me. I make a living applying math.
