FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
It all depends on the job. I operate a small business mostly alone unless additional hands are needed. Sometimes it's an hourly rate over 50$ or more or it's a job rate. Everything is different. Example: to paint a wall the same color is a simple price but to repair and paint a wall and a change in color is more. It all depends on environment. I ask myself how difficult is this going to be on me, my tools etc? How long is this going to take? Is the environment tough and claustrophobic etc?
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to request a time to meet and go over the job with the customer instead of giving a vague estimate over the phone. This way I can get a feel for what will be expected of me and we get to put a face to the words. My estimates I provide are very detailed and I put a lot of time into them. I make sure that I list in detail the materials I will be using and break down how and what I will be doing to get the job done not just some numbers at the bottom of a page. My customers feel good when they know what is being used on their homes.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My father owned a custom home building company and I've learned the majority from him. I've spent the past 14 yrs working in commercial property maintenance that required taking care of every aspect of interior/exterior laboratory, office and landscaping. I've worked for a paving company for 5 years and learned how to seal, patch and repair driveways and sidewalks. Landscaping came natural to me and I've had my share of that too. I decided I really wanted to start my own business, so I did. Oddballz Services, LLC. "Don't sweat the small stuff". I listened to contractors over the years turn down the small tasks because it was beneath them or it didn't pay well. I knew this was unfair so here I am. It's a funny name and I'm asked a lot "why Oddballz "? I said because I do all the oddball stuff. One minute I am sealing and repairing cracks in a driveway and the next minute I am repairing a deck or popping in a new mailbox. I am registered, insured and I've obtained a Home Improvement license. I'm honest, polite and hardworking.
