I accepted the job without knowing the details (other than date and time-lesson learned) after hearing the details I decided I can not put my equipment or assistant in the environment that the job required. I tried to call her to cancel but she did not answer so I left a message without reason b/c I wanted to speak with her personally to explain. She then immediately posted that I didn't give her a reason for cancelling without returning my call. This job was for photobooth services and not for photography. I don't know why she stated she now has no photographer except that she is trying to harm my business. All my other reviews are extremely positive but because I don't want to be in the environment she wants to be in she decided to give me a poor rating.
I was so grateful to work with James - he was extremely responsive, organized and easy to work with! Also, extremely friendly and helpful demeanor. His photos were beautiful and he got them over to me with a quick turnaround. Definitely will hire him again and loved working with him, thank you!!Dec 18, 2016Verified
I didn't know what to expect because I had never before used Thumbtack, but it turned out to be a great experience! James was personable, professional, thorough, and did a great job of maximizing the material he was asked to photograph to ensure that the end product looks great. The job that he was hired to do was somewhat challenging in that he was initially unfamiliar with the subject matter and had to take advantage of photo opportunities on the spot -- much like a photojournalist. - What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I am usually on the lower side of pricing to create more value for my customers that will hopefully (along with quality work) create referrals and repeat customers.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I want to have a consultation with every new customer so we both have an understanding of what the customer needs and what I can provide. I want to make sure I am "on the same page" as the customer. Many people have a vision of what they want that may be different from what I think they want and we need to make sure their vision is the same as what I see.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?My background is in mechanical engineering so I am a very technical person. This helps on the technical side of photography/videography mastering the use of the equipment and software. For the creative side, I have been in photography since 2014 and have been growing my skill set each year since.
