Introduction: I am a native Spanish and Catalan translator and editor with a General Translation certificate by International House Barcelona. Over the last decade, I have translated and edited texts within the fields of marketing, tourism, arts, music, lifestyle, business and finance, social sciences and health care. Marc is a very good tutor for Spanish conversation. When I met him I already had advanced skills in grammar, reading and writing, and was beyond the level of most available classes. I really needed conversation practice. At our first meeting we established points of common interest so Marc could direct our discussions. Marc is bright and intellectually curious; he keeps the conversation moving and engaging. The topics often challenge my vocabulary and means of expressing myself...I am learning a lot from him. Perhaps most important, aside from Marc's pleasant demeanor and all of the above, is Marc's method for teaching. He lets me talk and finish my thoughts. While I am speaking he takes notes, even as he participates in our conversation. It is when there is a natural pause in the discussion that he backtracks, reviews my mistakes and corrects me. Unlike many well-intentioned teachers who correct in the moment, Marc's method enables me to relax, formulate thoughts in Spanish and begin to really think in the language. I recommend Marc without hesitation!

I took Spanish for 3 years in high school, kept studying on my own for another 5 or 6 years, and considered myself an intermediate-level student. At some point, I realized that my grammar was somewhat decent, but my ability to actually communicate in the language was very limited (to say the least), so I decided to go ahead and find some help. I tried a couple of other tutors before Marc. They were OK, but - plain and simple - I got kind of bored... And then I found Marc! He can converse about movies, travels, music, History, Philosophy, social issues... All the while listening to my use of the language, and pausing to give notes, corrections, and suggestions. In addition, he'll often email me with some notes, links, or further explanations about any grammar issues that we may have encountered in our last session, as well as recommend Spanish movies, podcasts, or articles. Marc has true love for the Spanish language, a very warm character, and real commitment to his students. I totally recommend him to anyone looking to take their Spanish to the next level!

I have wanted to really learn Spanish for a long time and have had a number of tutors over the past three years. Marc has been the absolute best tutor and the one most genuinely interested in my progress that I've had. We started with the rudiments of the language, and now, through conversation, he's able to identify what I need to focus on and give me an appropriate assignment, as opposed to just having me do the "next" lesson. Marc is not just a native speaker, but also has what seems to be a complete knowledge of his native grammar and can explain it in perfect English, if need be, rather than just telling you not to do something because it's not done or sounds weird. In the past, I often found it frustrating when an instructor couldn't explain the logic or English equivalent of a grammatical rule, particularly when it applied to verb conjugations that aren't normally used in English. I've learned a lot with Marc being my teacher and continue to improve at a place that I'm extremely happy with. He's a great teacher. Thanks, Marc!
