FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My standard pricing is $90 per month. I prefer to do one half hour lesson per week, so my $90 monthly fee comes out to $22.50 per lesson. If the student would prefer, I'm also available for hour long lessons every week ($180 per month), or hour lessons every other week ($90 per month). Either way, I'm very flexible and I've had success with both scenarios.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My first experience playing the drums was jamming along to Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses. I COULD NOT WAIT to get home from school, run down to my drum set in the basement and rock out. That initial passion for the instrument is foremost in my mind when I start working with a new student. Unless asked to do otherwise, I try to get beginners playing songs on the drum set as soon as possible. If they get excited about playing, then the rest of the fundamentals fall into place quickly and easily. But mainly it needs to be FUN!!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In addition to over fifteen years of experience at Kansas City's foremost drum shop, Explorer's Percussion, I taught privately for several years in my hometown of Garden City KS. For the last twenty years, I have been a full-time professional musician. Rock, funk, jazz, R&B, blues, and country are just some of the styles of music that I've been fortunate enough to perform. I've also been blessed to tour the world performing in locations such as Norway, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Belgium, Canada, Bermuda, and all over the US. Before I embarked on my performance career I studied at the world famous University of North Texas in Denton, TX. I've been featured on the Working Drummer Podcast, was Western Kansas's Musician of the Year, been nominated for five Pitch Music Awards, and made it to the finals of the International Blues Competition in 2007.
