FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked as the Senior Assistant at Salon M, a professional salon in Frisco, Texas, where I am involved everyday with applying color, assisting professional stylist with shampoos, working with a wide variety of clientele, and learning about different products and color lines. I also work as a freelance makeup artist for people around the Dallas area for over 5 years. While trying to expand my business I collaborate with photographers in the area as their freelance hair and makeup artist for their clients. I have had the opportunity to help multiple brides and countless girls attending formal events.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My mother along with many other influential figures in my life have always been a part of the beauty industry. I went through a phase in my life where I wanted to distance myself from being "girlie". I know for a fact that it took everything in my mother not to protest against my dislike towards anything pink or frilly. But soon I was experimenting in my bathroom, and I surrendered my strike to all things girly and decided to investigate my new hobby of hair and makeup. I register now that by distancing myself I was hoping that I could use my creativity and find a secret talent within myself that would set me apart from my long lineage of hairstylist. While practicing and trying new techniques in front of the mirror I noticed that I had a talent for hair and makeup. Not only did I have a knack for it but I took pleasure in doing it as well. I accepted that I would be following in my mother's footsteps but it was unquestionable that I was determined to eventually make my own.
