Introduction: I have about 4 years experience teaching and tutoring, and it's the most rewarding work I've ever done in my life. I work at the student's pace, making sure that they understand what is happening in a problem and why. My teaching style is all about leading a student through the logic behind a problem, helping them to work it out for themselves as much as possible. This, I feel, best prepares them to solve similar problems in the future. I pride myself on not only teaching students the material they're interested in, but also leaving them with learning strategies and problem-solving skills that will help them to tackle future problems independently. Whenever I can, I link the content to fascinating facts or other course-critical information to improve recall.

Joe is a true character. Incredibly witty, his dry humor and frankness is a welcome breath of fresh air in a current environment of adamant political correctness. Nevertheless, he is still sensitive toward one’s personal insecurities; moreover, he is transparent about his own. Make no mistake, however: as personable as he is, that is how adept he is at being a tutor. When he worked for EXCEL/COMPASS, a two year STEM program at the University of Central Florida (UCF) geared towards assisting freshmen and sophomores in their math and science courses, he was always accessible and PATIENT, regardless of his personal overall state. Be it Calculus, College Physics, or Organic Chemistry, he was ready to help any student out with a confused look on their face. But what I admired most about him is his “realness”. He didn’t forget that, as students, we were often short on time and so offered tons of quick techniques to get through the graded assignment at hand-without an ounce of judgement, ever. I was saddened when he left the EXCEL/COMPASS program, but confident that he will continue to deliver quality assistance to his future pupils.
