She was very flexible and accommodating even at the last minute.Jan 5, 2019VerifiedDr. J. M. McDonald- officiant's reply
Thank you, Jayci! I'm wishing you both the best!
Although my wedding ceremony hasn’t taken place yet reaching out to Dr.McDonald has been a pleasure. Super professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable. So I wanted to give her recognition for how she has helped me so far. Dr. McDonald was upfront of the charges which, is nice when your on a budget to know the cost. I’ve never been married before so I have the slightest idea of how to plan a ceremony and she gladly gave me guidance and advice. She also gives you options of helping you write your vows and customize them to your own. Very well spoken and replies in a timely matter. Thank you so much! I look forward to having you as my wedding officiant on such a special day for my fiancé and I.Jan 4, 2019VerifiedDr. J. M. McDonald- officiant's reply

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I try to keep my base cost reasonable enough to accommodate most budgets. $200 covers my travel, consultation over the preferences for the ceremony, sample scripts, and the addition of elements such as symbols of unity, readings, or music. I do have a $50 upcharge if you wish to have me help write custom vows. I then submit the script to you for final approval before the ceremony. I also charge an extra $50 if I am needed for a rehersal.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I read what people ask for in their request. I check on the date and then respond if I am able to provide the service. I offer some sample scripts, and ask the person to affirm my hiring. I talk by phone if possible to get a better idea of what the couple wants, and then we work to build an acceptable script for the ceremony. Once the script is approved, and the couple gets their license, I travel to their location and perform the ceremony. I try to arrive a bit early to organize and get acclimated to the place. We can sign the license before or after the ceremony, and payment in cash or through PayPal is made, and I will issue a receipt.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I went to Lincoln Christian University for my B.A. in Ministry, Lincoln Christian Seminary for an M.A. in theology and philosophy, an M.A. in English at Western Illinois University, and a Ph.D. in English at Illinois State University. I worked as a youth minister in Illinois and Pennsylvania for five years, and in the ministry for another eight years. I then began teaching college English and composition, and I continue to do so full time as I have for the past 25 plus years.
