FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first lesson is always about making sure that I am a good fit for you (and that you are a good fit for me!). The first half-hour lesson is ALWAYS free. This is so that we can learn about each other, talk about your goals and expectations, and have some musical fun! When working with a new student, I always pinpoint exactly how much prior musical knowledge he or she has, what his or her goals are for the future, and some favorite songs that he or she wants to learn! I also usually assign curriculum books at the first lesson. These are carefully picked from a large library of various books and methods. Although lesson books can be very fun and enjoyable, most students love playing and singing songs that are their favorites! I always structure my lessons in such a way that students can make solid progress in their curriculum books while still learning about songs that they choose for fun on their own!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor of Music degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as well as minors in French and German language. I also have a certification from the Middlebury Language Schools in Middlebury, Vermont, for German language as it pertains to singing. I have over twelve years of teaching experience. I have performed music all over the country and currently enjoy a healthy performance career in the Orlando area. I have recently performed with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orlando Light Opera, Opera Orlando, Tampa Opera, Central Florida Vocal Arts, University of Central Florida Opera, and the Pittsburgh Opera. I perform at a local church every week, play piano for a local synagogue, write music and novels, and direct musicals.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always had an affinity and a joy for teaching! I started teaching Taekwondo nearly twelve years ago and quickly began to grow my music studio. I now teach full-time and love every second of it!
